Cape Gate Holdings (Pty) Limited, a division of the Cape Gate Group of Companies, is a manufacturer and distributor of steel, wire, and wire products. Based in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, the company has grown from a small wire netting producer into a significant supplier of wire and steel products.
Cape Gate serves various industries, including Industry, Agriculture, Mining, Civil Engineering, Construction, Commerce, and both domestic and international markets.
What the Bursary Covers
The bursary covers the following expenses:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Book allowance
- Once-off computer allowance
- Personal allowance
- Accommodation in residence and meals or living allowance
Additional Information about the bursary:
- Recipients are required to participate in paid vacation work at Cape Gate during the December and January holidays.
- The bursary is awarded for one year at a time and is renewable based on satisfactory academic performance.
- Graduates may be required to work for Cape Gate after completing their studies, with the duration of employment matching the sponsorship period. Employment will be at market-related rates, subject to Cape Gate’s discretion.

Eligibility Requirements for the Cape Gate Erwin Robert Balde Bursary 2025
Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify:
- Be currently in Matric (2024) or have completed Matric.
- Achieve a minimum of 70% in Mathematics and 65% overall in Matric.
- Intend to study full-time towards a BCom (CA stream) degree.
- Be starting your first year of study in 2025.
- Plan to study at a recognised and accredited South African university.
- Demonstrate proven financial need.
- Not be receiving any other financial assistance.

- Proof of admission/acceptance letter from the university (on official letterhead).
- Academic records and university fee statements.
- A brief statement explaining your choice of field of study or career.
