As the global philanthropic arm of Ford, they co-create and invest in programs that build equity and apply mobility expertise to expand access to essential services, for the future of work and entrepreneurship.

Ford Philanthropy provide grant funding to organisations and initiatives that support their philanthropic priorities in communities around the world where Ford operates.

The Gift of the Givers Foundation is the largest disaster response, non-governmental organisation of African origin on the African continent. Their 6 main focus areas include: Disaster Response, Hunger Alleviation, Water Provision, Healthcare, Education and Human Development

Fields of Study Covered

The Scholarship is available for the following fields:

  • Automotive, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering (N4-N6 levels)
  • NCV Mechatronics (Levels 2/3/4)

Eligibility Requirements for the FORD & Gift of the Givers Scholarship 2025

To qualify, applicants must meet these criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Reside in an under-resourced community.
  • Be in Matric (Grade 12) in 2024 or have completed Matric.
  • Plan to study or currently be studying in the specified fields of study.
  • Be enrolled or plan to enroll at a TVET College in South Africa.
  • Not receive NSFAS funding.

How to Apply for the FORD & Gift of the Givers Scholarship 2025

Applications are submitted via email to mandy.mncwabe@giftofthegivers.org with the subject line: “College Name & Course Name.”

Required Documents:

  1. Certified ID copy
  2. Latest school report (if in high school)
  3. Provisional acceptance letter (if not yet enrolled)
  4. 2024 academic record (if already studying)
  5. Proof of registration or enrollment (if already studying)
  6. Financial/fee statement (if applicable)
  7. Proof of residence (stamped by traditional council or municipal councillor)
  8. Curriculum Vitae
  9. Motivational letter (tips available on crafting a compelling letter)

Closing Date

The application deadline for this scholarship is 11th February 2025. Applications submitted after this date will not be considered.
