Fields of Study Covered
The bursary is available for studies in Speech-Language Therapy and/or Audiology. This initiative aims to support deserving and underprivileged students in achieving their tertiary education goals.
Eligibility Requirements for the SASLHA Bursary 2025
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered (failure to meet all requirements will result in disqualification):
- Be a SASLHA student member or agree to sign up as a SASLHA member.
- Have completed Matric.
- Be studying towards a degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology.
- Have completed their 2nd or 3rd year of study.
- Be entering their 3rd or 4th year of study.
- Be enrolled at a recognized and accredited university in South Africa.
- Have a strong academic record.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Commit to not changing their degree program after submitting the application.
How to Apply for the SASLHA Bursary 2025

Submit the following supporting documents along with your application (submission of all documents is compulsory; missing items may lead to disqualification):
- Certified copy of ID document.
- Certified copy of Matric certificate.
- Full academic record or most recent results (certified copy).
- Two testimonials from departmental staff or supervisors on university letterhead, signed by the respective staff members. Testimonials should highlight your academic potential, leadership abilities, and other relevant qualities, as well as explain why the referee recommends you for the award.
- Proof of income for parents or guardians (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed).
- Certified copy of death certificates if parents or guardians are deceased.
- Three months’ bank statements of the person responsible for paying your university fees.
- A video recording (maximum 2 minutes, less than 10MB) briefly addressing the following: “Tell us about yourself, why you deserve this award, and how you plan to contribute to the profession in the short and medium term.” Record the video on a cell phone or laptop.

The deadline for the bursary is 14 February 2025 (Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted. Apply early to ensure your application is considered.)
