Fasken is pleased to announce the opening of applications for its scholarship program, aimed at supporting students for the 2025 academic year.

About Fasken

Fasken is an international business law and litigation organisation with branches in China, Canada, the UK, and South Africa. The firm works alongside clients from around the world, providing its expertise on legal issues. Clients are served in French, English, and all of South Africa’s 11 official languages.

Fasken has been operating in Africa for more than 130 years. The company’s South African founding partner began practising as an Attorney in 1879 in Grahamstown. Today, the Johannesburg Fasken team is well-versed in all of Africa’s growth and established industries, including healthcare, finance, mining, infrastructure, energy, and technology.

In October 2012, Fasken successfully merged with Bell Dewar, a Johannesburg-based law firm and is now one of the biggest law firms on the African continent.

  • Ricci Schwab Lyons Scholarship – For Law students.
  • Lundi Gadla Scholarship – For Nelson Mandela University (NMU) students in any field.

  • Ricci Schwab Lyons Scholarship
    Honors Ricci Schwab Lyons, a distinguished Fasken partner and COO. This renewable scholarship supports Law students, with expectations of post-graduation clerkship at Fasken.
  • Lundi Gadla Scholarship
    Created in memory of Fasken colleague Lundi Gadla, this scholarship supports NMU students with financial needs.

Eligibility Requirements for the Fasken Scholarship 2025

Ricci Schwab Lyons Scholarship:

  • Enrolled in a Law program.
  • 2nd, 3rd, or penultimate year of study.
  • Minimum 65% average for completed studies.
  • Demonstrates leadership, self-motivation, and community interest.
  • Willing to participate in Fasken’s vacation work programs.

Lundi Gadla Scholarship:

  • Enrolled at Nelson Mandela University.
  • 2nd, 3rd, or final year of study.
  • Displays leadership and community engagement.
  • Demonstrates financial need.
